Chartered Accountant (CA) is a professional degree which provides you the knowledge of Accounting , Auditing, Financing ,taxation and Company Laws.
CA is considered as a very respectable job and can also gives you great earning.You can Grab some great offers from big organizations at the very beginning of your career.
CA exams are conducted by an institute named “Institute of Chartered Accountant of India–ICAI” (website is www.icai.org.). There is no college for CA degree/course. You have to do it by yourself through self study or with the help of private coaching classes.
This degree can be done by students coming from almost any stream (Science,Commerce or Arts).
It can be done after 12th or after graduation.
After 12th :
1. You have to clear CPT (Common Profeciency Test).
It is a multiple choice exam having questions related to Accounts, Law, Economics & Quantative Aptitude. In total it has 200 questions each having 1 mark for right answer and negative 0.25 for wrong answer. You need minimum of 50% marks to advance to second level.
2. Second Level which is IPC (Integrated Proficiency Competence) Course.
To appear in IPC you need to have a 8 month gap after CPT in which you can prepare for IPC examination and also you can utilise this time to do Orientation training which is of 5 days/35 hours and 100 hours of ITT (Information technology training). ITT is mandatory requirement for IPC and Orientation training is mandatory to complete before commencement of articleship.
In IPC you have total 7 papers of 100 marks each (for complete syllabus please check (www.icai.org)
3. Then you have to complete 3 years articleship(training) under CA.
4. After this you can appear for CA Final Level Exams.Using this route you can save 2 years to get a CA degree.
After Graduation /Post Graduation :
You have to secure minimum 55% marks in BCOM or 60% marks if you are coming from other stream.
After Graduation you have to complete ITT and Orientation training and 9 months of Articleship before appearing in IPC exams.
After clearing IPC you can go for CA final level examination.
Working Areas :
CA can work as a freelancer and setup his own office or can work as a CA in any organisation.
1. Set up their own office:
CA can set up their own office & provides financial and taxation services to their clients. They can also provides financial and Investment advisory.
2.Worked as employee in company
CA can work as Accountant, Auditor, Financial adviser and he can get the position of CFO in a company. He can work in any company as every organisation needs a CA so the demand of Ca’s are very high in the industry. Or a CA can also choose the profession of teaching, he can teach the subjects like Accounting,Auditing, taxation, costing.
CA as a career for girls :
CA can be a very good choice of career for girls as they can work from home also
The demand of Indian CA’s are very high in the global market so there is a very high chance that you can get some great jobs abroad if you wish to.
